Ended up reinstalling Apache, PHP & MySQL in order to get things working correctly again. Of course, this was after running the force install which actually removed somewhere around 111 packages rather than installing anything. *sigh* But at least now everything seems to be working as it should be on that machine.

Yup defintely looks like apache is going to need a reinstall. I wrote up this post in part as I was so dang grumpy about the upgrade and in part for me to keep track for when I upgrade this machine again after the next LTS release comes out. I'll be posting follow-ups to what I had to do to get everything working properly in the comments here if you're interested.

Sometimes you have to ride the waves where they take you. Keep a list of what major apps you had running (like apache), and if it uninstalls them during the upgrade, reinstall them after. As long as you don't --purge remove any apps, you should be in fairly good shape.

Even linux systems get crufty. Sometimes you just have to back up and start fresh. I certainly did on our server, when I moved from Debian Sid to Ubuntu Gutsy.

When I am not feeling full of energy (age 70) I know that
it is time for me to eat another Danon Coffee yogurt with
peanuts or chunky peanut butter. This, my favorite food,
makes me feel so good after eating it. I am a nationally
ranked senior tennis competitor and I travel all over the
U.S. I am about to leave for California next week and I
always make sure that I find the coffee yogurt where I
go.

Well as noted above, I'm not a programmer. Looks like the original code I posted above only appeared to work because I was logged into my WP install when testing it. I'm now trying to figure out how to make it <em>really</em> work.

I agree with so many of the commenters ... it's the only yogurt I like. I absolutely love it! Whenever I find it, I stock up, but I do try to limit myself to one cup a day because of the sugar and caffeine content.

Note to Meg: You are correct! That is a blueberry taste from some bad batches. You helped me characterize why some don't taste quite right.

The interior leak isn't that bad and I'll probably just wrap some of the handyman's secret weapon around it for now. When it gets a bit drier out, I might look into replacing/patching up that bit of interior pipe.

The above post was more me ranting against the universe than anything else.
