The writing was just as good as it has been in any of the books so far. But Mr. Goodkind was neither good or kind to his main characters in this book. He was brutal and cruel excluding perhaps the last chapter. If this was my first time reading this series, I’d probably stop here never to complete it as Mr. Goodkind seems to like to torture his characters more than I care for. “New book? New tortures!” seems to be his motto for this series.
